Sherbert!

Shoebert has been gone for about six weeks.  Yesterday, I found out about a rat terrier mix needing a home.  Today Sherbert joined the Rat Dog Pack.

Sad day for the Rat Dog Pack

Today we had to have Shoebert euthanized.  He was fifteen and had been in poor health.  The vet let me hold Shoebert the entire time.  First there was a shot to relax him.  After about ten minutes he was resting calmly in my arms.  Then he was given another shot that relaxed the muscles to the point that his heart stopped.  It was all painless to Shoebert. Goodbye, dear friend.  You were loved and will always be remembered.

Spring pays a visit

It is sure to get cold again, but Mini did not let this spring-like day go to waste. She enjoyed the crocuses before the snow comes and freezes them. 

Ultimate Pi Day!

Ultimate Pi Day is coming!  This once per century celebration is observed in the USA and other countries that still write their dates backwards.  Ha, the joke is on those other countries!  Who doesn't want a holiday that revolves around eating tasty pastries?

Holiday Time! Elf on the Shelf? No, that's Miss Mini!

The holidays are here and Mini is helping to spread cheer.  What is more cheerful than a rat terrier dressed up as one of Santa's elves?  Combining Mini the dog elf with a choir and a showing of A Christmas Carol, that's what!

Mini enjoys the music along with the rest of us.  She needs her dog ears to listen!  Nothing says, Christmas, than the classic Baptist Christmas hymns.

Mini visits her friends.  Everyone is on their best behavior in case the elf reports back to Santa Claus!

After a few hours of spreading cheer at the nursing home, Mini is tuckered out!  She's lucky to have a friend who is willing to lend her a bed!  Christmas is a time of giving and sharing.  Happy holidays, everyone.

Keeping warm!

I came home from work last week and found Shoebert's bed on the heat vent.  After putting it back, I found it on the vent the next day, too.  Shoebert is getting frail at age 14, so I thought that he had knocked it off while trying to get into the window sill.

That's assumption was proved wrong, when I saw Shoeby pull the bed down and place it near the heat vent.  He's old, he's lost much of his fur and he's gotten very thin from his repeated kidney infections.  It's no surprise that he likes snoozing on the heat vent when it's freezing outside.
